Orchard House Care Home

Orchard House provides personal care and accommodation for up to 52 people, some living with dementia. At the time of inspection, 38 residents were using the service. Staff are described by residents and relatives as warm and friendly, with an approachable and supportive registered manager. The home maintains safety systems with regular checks on premises and equipment in place.

During the inspection, observers noted kind and caring interactions between staff and residents, with people treated with dignity and respect. Staff support residents to have maximum choice and control of their lives using the least restrictive approaches. However, mealtimes lacked a social atmosphere and appeared task-focused, though the manager acknowledged this may have been affected by building work displacing residents and disrupting routines, and committed to addressing this.
