Oakleigh Residential Care Home

Oakleigh provides accommodation and personal care for up to 27 older people and those living with dementia. At the time of inspection, 21 people were residing at the service. The home demonstrated strong infection prevention and control measures, including temperature checks, COVID-19 tests, health questionnaires and consistent use of personal protective equipment. Staff ensured people could maintain contact with relatives through video technology, letters and telephone calls when visits were restricted. The registered manager conducted regular audits and staff training to maintain infection control standards, with adequate supplies of PPE available throughout.

The service supported residents' wellbeing through various activities and pastimes, including puzzles, newspapers and access to family photographs. Contingency plans were in place for potential COVID-19 outbreaks, with staff organised into separate groups working in designated areas of the home to minimise transmission risk. Contaminated and infectious waste was stored and disposed of safely according to protocol.
