Oak Lodge Care Home

Oak Lodge Care Home provides nursing and personal care for up to 41 older people. The home is situated on a main road with easy access to local amenities and public transport. At inspection, 37 people were living at the home.

Inspectors found good practice in how the home managed COVID-19 safety. Staff followed personal protective equipment guidance, and communal areas were well-spaced to support social distancing. The home had created a dedicated visiting area that was well-ventilated and cleaned between visitors, allowing people to maintain contact with relatives and friends. Clear plans were in place for those who needed to self-isolate, with telephone and video contact arranged for relatives. Those who struggled with isolation received additional support. For people nursed in their rooms, visiting arrangements were also clearly established. Staff continued to support people to access healthcare and made arrangements for safe hospital attendance when needed.
