The Heathlands Village

Heathlands is a residential care home providing personal and nursing care to up to 214 people, supporting older people from both the Jewish and Non-Jewish community, some living with dementia. The service is divided into seven units including nursing, residential, discharge to assess, and dementia-specific areas. Each person has their own en-suite room, and the site features extensive grounds, an onsite synagogue, restaurant, and atrium for visits with family and friends.

Inspectors found that formal assessments regarding people's capacity to make their own decisions were not being completed. While applications for Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards were made when people moved to the home where applicable, this meant people were not always supported to have maximum choice and control of their lives.
