Nelson House

Nelson House provides residential care and personal care for older people and those living with mental health difficulties, currently supporting 17 residents across one adapted building with capacity for 21. The home is staffed by two care workers plus a senior carer and cook during day shifts, with two staff covering nights and management on call.

During inspection, significant concerns were identified regarding infection prevention and control. No individual COVID-19 risk assessments had been completed for residents or staff, and the home's infection prevention policies were not being followed. There were no appropriate designated areas for removing personal protective equipment. Environmental audits had not been carried out to assess and mitigate risks, and cleaning audits were absent, with no spot checks to verify that cleaning tasks were being completed properly.

Staff supervision was also found to be inadequate. There was no evidence of formal supervisions taking place, and the provider was not following its own policies to ensure supervision was timely and relevant for staff members.
