Morton Cottage Residential Home

Morton Cottage Residential Home is a care home without nursing, registered for up to 32 people, supporting older people with personal care needs. The CQC found staff were caring and knowledgeable, with warm relationships and good teamwork with external professionals. However, inspectors found ongoing weaknesses in governance and oversight, with gaps in analysis meaning lessons were not always learned, so the home remains in breach of regulations relating to good governance.

Medicines management had improved and the previous breach around risk assessments was resolved. Environmental improvements were still needed, particularly to make the building more dementia-friendly, and recruitment processes required review. Families and residents spoke positively about kindness and calm, and end of life care planning was in place.
