Moorland House

Moorland House provides personal care to up to 23 people, though 15 were present during inspection. The home does not provide nursing care and accommodates residents over two floors with a communal lounge, dining areas, and secure garden. Some residents were living with dementia.

Inspectors found significant concerns across several areas. Risk assessments and management plans were not consistently in place to guide staff safely. Medicine management required improvement, and infection control practices were not being managed consistently. Staff recruitment processes did not adequately promote safety, and while staffing numbers appeared sufficient, inspectors were not assured staff possessed appropriate knowledge and skills. Incident investigation processes needed to be more robust to enable learning from accidents and incidents.

The home supported people to have choice and control in their lives, with staff using least restrictive approaches where possible. However, staff understanding and implementation of the Mental Capacity Act 2005 required improvement to ensure full compliance with legal requirements.
