Moorland Gardens Care Home

Moorland Gardens Care Home in Luton is a residential care home with nursing, supporting older people, including those living with dementia, physical disabilities and nursing needs. It cares for up to around 63 people and is currently rated Requires Improvement overall by the CQC. Inspectors found breaches relating to safe care, safeguarding, dignity and governance, including poor incident reporting, inconsistent care plans, unsafe medicines and moving and handling practices, and weak oversight by leaders.

More positively, staff were recruited safely and felt able to raise concerns, and the provider acted quickly on feedback during the assessment. Most people and relatives said they felt safe, described staff as kind and the atmosphere as welcoming, though some wanted more individualised activities.
