About Mill House

Mill House is a residential care home in County Durham, supporting young people with learning disabilities and/or autism. The findings below set out what the CQC most recently found on inspection.

Mill House provides residential care for up to 5 young people aged 16 to 30 with learning disabilities and/or autism, offering a transitional bridge between children's and adult services. Staff support residents to pursue their interests and maintain their health and wellbeing, focusing on people's strengths and promoting independence. The service prioritises choice and control, using the least restrictive approaches and avoiding restraint where possible, with incidents recorded and reviewed to reduce future occurrences.

Staff provide kind and compassionate care tailored to residents' needs and quality of life. However, the home does not consistently follow best practice guidance around helping people set and monitor goals to achieve their personal aspirations.
