River View

River View provides care and accommodation for young people with autism and learning disabilities, supporting a maximum of three residents. At inspection, all three available places were occupied. Staff support residents with clear communication plans and tailored visual schedules to aid understanding. Residents receive assistance with medication in a safe manner, and staffing levels are maintained to enable community access and activities with trained, competent support.

However, systems do not consistently ensure maximum choice and control for residents. Best interest decisions were not documented for one person, and the language used in their support plan contained potentially restrictive wording. The service was recommended to review these practices to better uphold residents' dignity, independence, and rights.
