Milestone House

Milestone House, in Kent, is a residential care home providing accommodation and personal care for up to 13 people with learning disabilities, autism, physical disabilities and sensory impairments. Nine people were living there at the time of the assessment. The CQC rated the home inadequate overall and it remains in special measures, with continued and new breaches found around safeguarding, staffing, safe care, consent and governance.

Inspectors found people were not always protected from harm, and health appointments had been missed due to long-standing transport problems. Some improvements had been made, including new flooring, a fire alarm upgrade and personalised room decor, and staff interactions with people were observed to be positive. However, activities and sensory needs were not consistently met, and oversight of the service had not improved.
