Merlin Manor Care Centre

Merlin Manor Care Centre provides personal and nursing care for up to 94 older people, including those with physical disabilities, sensory impairments, and dementia. At inspection, 65 people were using the service in the single purpose-built building.

However, significant concerns were identified. Fire risk was not safely managed and systems were not in place to ensure safe staffing levels. People had not always been safeguarded from abuse, with unwitnessed incidents occurring. Governance systems were not effective at managing risk. The provider's recruitment processes did minimise the risk of unsuitable staff being employed, though this alone was insufficient to address the wider safety concerns identified during inspection.
