About Manordene

Manordene is a nursing home in Kent, providing care for older people, some living with dementia and some with physical disabilities. The findings below set out the CQC's most recent assessment of the service.

Manordene provides nursing care for up to 22 older people, some living with dementia, and some with physical disabilities. The CQC found the service is performing badly and has taken enforcement action, placing it in special measures. Inspectors found nine breaches of legal regulations, covering safeguarding, safe care and medicines management, staffing and training, poor recruitment, and weak governance.

While some relatives spoke positively about staff's caring nature, inspectors found people were not protected from abuse or neglect, and risks around falls, dehydration, malnutrition and oral health were poorly managed. Consent was not always sought before restrictions were imposed, care was institutionalised, and complaints were not properly investigated.
