Lonsdale Midlands Ltd - Bushwood Road

18 Bushwood Road provides accommodation and personal care for up to six people with physical and learning disabilities who require support to live in the community. At the time of inspection, five people were living at the home.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the home demonstrated strong safeguarding practices, with two staff members staying on-site for four days to minimize infection transmission. The service restricted visitors to family and essential personnel, and used technology to help residents maintain contact with family members who were shielding. Recognizing that people experienced anxiety from being unable to participate in social activities, the registered manager arranged for books to be delivered to the home. The management team also developed an initiative to fulfill each person's individual wishes and support their wellbeing, including planning for one person to experience a private aeroplane flight once it was safe to do so. Staff wellbeing was supported through an internal employee wellbeing programme during this period.
