About Poplars

Poplars is a residential care home in Birmingham, providing personal care to people with learning disabilities or autism. Further details from the CQC's most recent inspection are set out below.

Poplars provides personal care to up to five people with learning disabilities or autism. During the inspection, the home had implemented several safety measures in response to the pandemic. Visitors completed COVID-19 screening including temperature checks, hand sanitisation and questionnaires about recent contacts.

Personal protective equipment was available at the entrance, and the provider prevented staff from working across multiple sites to reduce infection transmission risks.

The home supported people's wellbeing and connections with family during restricted visiting. Additional laptops were purchased to help residents stay in touch with loved ones, and a visiting pod was ordered to enable safe in-person visits. Gym equipment was provided to support residents in remaining active at home, and staff received regular support from managers to discuss pandemic-related concerns.
