Long Meadow

Long Meadow is a residential care home providing personal care to up to 41 older people and younger adults. At the time of inspection, 34 people were using the service. Inspectors found several areas of concern affecting safety and quality of care. Systems to protect people from abuse were not always effective, and not all necessary care plans and risk assessments were in place. Monitoring of challenging behaviours was inconsistent, and essential equipment for safe care had not always been provided. Accident and incident reporting processes required improvement.

Additional concerns included insufficient housekeeping staff to maintain effective infection control measures, inadequate staffing deployment to meet planned care needs, and inconsistent support for new agency staff. While some staff had completed training relevant to residents' healthcare needs, the service did not always ensure people received suitable food with adequate choice offered to residents.
