Leiston Old Abbey Residential Home

Leiston Old Abbey Residential Home provides personal and nursing care for up to 40 people in an adapted building. At inspection, 14 older people were living there, some with dementia. The home has systems in place to assess and monitor risk, keeping people safe from avoidable harm. When incidents or accidents occur, staff investigate, learn lessons, and take action to prevent future occurrences. Staff are available when people need assistance, and medicines are managed safely with appropriate recruitment procedures in place.

The home has identified some areas relating to hygiene that require attention and the registered manager is actively addressing these. Staff receive training to meet people's specific needs. A programme of redecoration and flooring replacement is underway throughout the service. People's health and nutritional needs are assessed and planned for appropriately.
