Kensington Lodge

Kensington Lodge provides personal care to up to 18 people, including those living with dementia, mental health conditions and age-related frailties. At inspection, 14 people were using the service. Staff developed detailed care plans that reflected people's needs and guided support, and people told inspectors they felt safe and comfortable speaking with staff about any concerns. One relative said, "I'm thankful to all of them."

However, quality assurance processes were not always effective in providing managerial oversight. Areas for improvement from the previous inspection had not been fully resolved, and records were not always confidentially stored. Audits of medicine management and the environment contained inaccuracies, and some care records held inconsistencies that had not been identified. Health risks were not consistently assessed and managed safely, with some assessments proving inaccurate—for example, weight loss assessments did not always align with associated assessment tools. The registered manager acknowledged these issues and committed to making improvements.
