Hugh Myddelton House

Hugh Myddleton House provides residential care for up to 48 people across three floors, accommodating elderly frail people, those living with dementia, and younger people with disabilities. At inspection, 38 people were living at the service. Most residents felt safe and told inspectors staff were kind and caring. Health and social care professionals gave positive feedback about staff competence and kindness, and relatives confirmed this assessment.

Inspectors identified a medication error where one person received more than the recommended dose of medicine, though this did not cause harm. The service immediately addressed the issue and sought professional advice, but the error revealed a failure in systems designed to safeguard people from harm. Additionally, while food was plentiful and freshly cooked, several residents reported having little influence over menu choices. This concern has since been addressed following the inspection.
