About Highmarket House

Highmarket House is a nursing care home in Oxfordshire. Details of the CQC's most recent findings are set out below.

Highmarket House is a residential care home over three floors, providing support to older people, some living with dementia, with en-suite rooms and garden access. The CQC's rating has dropped from Good to Requires Improvement, with breaches found in safe care, staffing and governance. Inspectors found gaps in risk management and infection control, incomplete records, and inconsistent staffing levels affecting timely care.

Despite this, people and relatives generally felt safe and spoke positively about kindness shown by staff. The home was clean and well maintained, medicines were managed safely, and activities were varied and well regarded. The provider responded quickly to concerns raised during the assessment and has been asked to submit an improvement plan.
