Highfield House

Highfield House is a residential care home in Walsall for adults of all ages with learning disabilities or autistic spectrum disorder. The CQC rated the service Requires Improvement overall, citing staff vacancies that affected record keeping and medicines administration, reduced opportunities for activities, and inconsistent management following the absence of a registered manager. Staff training and governance systems were also not consistently effective, and staff knowledge of Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards varied.

Inspectors found people were protected from abuse, supported to manage risks safely, and cared for by kind staff who responded well to their needs. People's health needs were met and person-centred care was in place, with relatives generally satisfied and feeling their family members were safe, though they raised concerns about weak leadership.
