Hawkhurst House Proactive Assessment Unit

Hawkhurst House Proactive Assessment Unit is a residential nursing home offering care and support to older people and those living with dementia, including an assessment unit for people leaving hospital or needing short-term respite. It supports up to 31 people. The CQC rated the service Good overall, and found no evidence of the concerns raised about neglect, malnourishment or skin care that had prompted the assessment.

Inspectors found people were well cared for, with enough trained staff who knew people well and responded to their needs. Minor issues with record-keeping and risk documentation were noted but had no impact on care. A recent change in leadership meant governance systems were being updated, though oversight had continued throughout.
