Harwood House

Harwood House, in Windsor and Maidenhead, is a care home providing nursing care to older people, supporting 27 people at the time of assessment. The CQC rated it Requires Improvement overall, finding breaches relating to medicines management, recruitment, duty of candour and governance. Inspectors found record-keeping was inconsistent, some notifiable incidents were not reported promptly, and staff training was not fully up to date, though improvements were underway.

Despite these concerns, the CQC found a caring, well-led culture at ground level, with staff described as kind and attentive and relatives generally positive about communication and the quality of care. People had good access to healthcare and meaningful activities, and staffing levels were sufficient. The provider has been asked to submit an action plan to address the shortfalls identified.
