About Haighfield Care Home

Haighfield Care Home is a nursing home in Wigan, providing care for older people including those living with dementia. Details of the CQC's most recent findings are set out below.

Haighfield Care Home provides accommodation and personal care for up to 45 older people, some living with dementia, across three floors. The CQC found the service requires improvement, with breaches relating to safe care and treatment and good governance. Medication records were poorly maintained, some fire doors were held open unsafely, pressure relieving equipment was not always correctly set, and care plans lacked key information on skin integrity and mental capacity decisions.

Despite these shortfalls, people and relatives told inspectors they felt safe and well cared for, though some raised concerns about staffing levels at night. Feedback described the home as well-led, with a new manager making visible improvements and staff who enjoyed their roles.
