Glenthorne House

Glenthorne House provides personal and nursing care for up to 27 older people, including some living with dementia. At inspection, 26 people were using the service across two floors in a single building. Staff administered medicines as prescribed by trained and competent staff, though some gaps were noted in recording topical cream applications. People were protected from abuse, with staff trained to recognise signs of ill-treatment and understand reporting procedures.

The home had assessed risks associated with people's care, and staff demonstrated knowledge of these risks and how to minimise potential harm. There were sufficient staff available to provide timely assistance, and training ensured safe support. The service supported people to have maximum choice and control over their lives, with staff working in the least restrictive way possible and in people's best interests.
