Glenfield Woodlands Care Home

Glenfield Woodlands provides personal care to up to 17 older people and those living with dementia. At inspection, 16 people were using the service. While the home had enough staff and safe recruitment checks in place, several concerns were identified. Risk assessments for falls did not always ensure people's safety, and infection prevention and control measures were insufficient to protect people from harmful bacteria. Medicines were not always safely administered, and the safeguarding system was not always used effectively to protect people.

Staff did not consistently promote people's dignity and respect, and there was a lack of daily activities. Meal options were not always offered during mealtimes, and fluid monitoring was ineffective in ensuring people drank enough. Staff competency and individual care needs were not always fully assessed. However, the provider responded positively to concerns raised during inspection and took action to improve. The service supported people to have maximum choice and control over their lives, using least restrictive approaches in their best interests.
