Glenfield

The following is CQC's published account of its assessment, published 8 May 2025. References to “we” mean CQC. It describes findings at that time.

Glenfield is a residential care home providing accommodation with personal care for up to 6 people. The service supports people with a learning disability and/or autistic people. Our on-site assessment was unannounced on 16 December 2024. We looked at quality statements relating to areas in Safe and Well-Led. For those areas we did not assess, we used the ratings awarded at the last inspection to calculate the overall rating. We assessed the service against ‘Right support, right care, right culture’ guidance to make judgments about whether the provider guaranteed people with a learning disability and autistic people respect, equality, dignity, choices, independence, and good access to local communities that most people take for granted. We found people were supported in line with this guidance. At the time of our assessment there were 5 people using the service. At our last inspection, some areas of the service needed improvement. At this assessment, improvements had been made, and the service was providing good-quality care and support. People were safe and supported by caring, well-trained staff who used positive behaviour support to minimise risk. People were supported to have maximum choice and control of their lives and staff supported them in the least restrictive way possible and in their best interests. There were enough staff on duty to meet people’s needs, both at the service and when out in the community. The premises were safe, clean, and well-maintained and had been upgraded and improved, allowing people more communal space. Leaders and managers listened to and respected people, relatives, and staff and acted on what they said. They were knowledgeable about priorities for the service and continually improved governance systems to ensure people were experiencing positive outcomes and a good quality of life.
