Galsworthy House Nursing Home

Galsworthy House provides personal care and accommodation for up to 72 people, many with physical disabilities and dementia. At inspection, 59 residents were living at the home. Staff had guidance on supporting people safely, though mental health awareness training needed updating. Care records lacked some personal information and details about residents' end-of-life wishes, which management committed to addressing immediately.

The home supported residents to make choices and staff used the least restrictive approaches possible. However, mental capacity assessments during initial assessments did not fully align with the Mental Capacity Act 2005, and management agreed to review these systems. Staff understood safeguarding procedures for reporting harm, abuse, incidents and accidents. Pre-employment checks were conducted properly and medicines were managed safely.
