Ferncross Residential Home

Ferncross Residential Home provides accommodation and personal care for up to 14 older people living with dementia, in one adapted building over two floors. The home has moved out of Special Measures after previously being rated inadequate, but the CQC found new breaches relating to staffing levels and governance, and rated it Requires Improvement overall.

Inspectors found gaps in staff skills and deployment, meaning people could not always be assured of care from enough suitably trained staff, and quality monitoring systems were inconsistent. Feedback was mixed: some residents and relatives spoke warmly of staff, though staff were not always seen supporting people with dementia in ways that addressed their confusion or emotional needs.
