Engelhard Lodge Care Home

This purpose-built residential care home accommodates up to 35 older people, including those living with dementia, across a single floor with lounge, dining, and outdoor areas. At inspection, 20 people were using the service. Staff supported residents to make choices and exercise control over their lives in the least restrictive ways possible. Risk assessments were completed for individual care needs with appropriate mitigation plans in place. Staff received safeguarding training and understood how to protect people from harm. The home maintained safe recruitment practices and adequate staffing levels to meet residents' needs. Medicines were managed safely with staff completing relevant training, and accidents and incidents were investigated to identify learning opportunities. However, best interest decisions had not been consistently documented, and necessary applications to deprive people of their liberty had not been submitted where required.
