Elm Park Lodge, in Barnet, provides care for older and younger adults living with a range of mental health needs. The CQC rated the home Requires Improvement overall, finding a breach of regulations relating to good governance. Inspectors identified fire safety concerns, mainly in the smoking room, and found the provider relied too heavily on the registered manager for quality checks rather than carrying out its own effective oversight.

Despite this, people living at the home spoke positively about staff, describing them as friendly, professional and responsive to feedback. Risk assessments were in place, medicines were managed well, and staffing levels were sufficient. The management team responded constructively to the findings and an action plan has been requested.
