Elm House Care Home

Elm House Care Home provides personal care to up to 34 older people, including those with physical disabilities and sensory impairments. Currently 29 people use the service, which is set over two floors with communal areas and a garden. The home maintains clean, comfortable surroundings and supports people to eat and drink healthily, with residents commenting that they enjoy the meals. Staff safely support people with their medicines.

However, systems for protecting people from abuse and learning from mistakes need improvement. Risk assessments for people's health and wellbeing were not always effective, and staff recruitment processes lacked safety measures. Although staff are experienced, they do not receive regular training to update their knowledge and skills. The registered manager and provider had already identified governance gaps and were working to address them. Relatives expressed positive feedback, with one saying, "My relative is comfortable in Elm House, I can rest knowing they are being looked after."
