About Elliott House

Elliott House is a residential care home in Birmingham, providing personal care for older people living with dementia. The findings below set out the CQC's most recent view of the service.

Elliott House provides personal care for up to 54 people aged 65 and over living with dementia, with 42 residents at the time of inspection. The service operates from one adapted building across two floors, with most bedrooms featuring ensuite facilities. Staff demonstrated good understanding of residents' support needs and enabled people to have maximum choice and control over their lives, supporting them in the least restrictive way possible.

However, the home's quality audits were not always robust and had failed to identify necessary improvements, leaving some risks undetected through the provider's own systems. While care plans and risk assessments were being updated to better reflect people's needs, the system for overseeing Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards required improvement to ensure timely renewal applications.
