Earlfield Lodge

Earlfield Lodge is a care home located in a large, detached property in a residential area of North Somerset, with accommodation across 4 floors. Each bedroom has ensuite facilities. During inspection, inspectors found that people were not supported to have maximum choice and control of their lives. Some people's bedrooms were located in a secure corridor, which the registered manager said was to keep them safe. However, mental capacity assessments and best interest decisions were not in place to support these decisions. Appropriate Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards applications had not been submitted to the local authority for two people who lacked capacity and were unable to leave freely. Governance processes were not always effective, with audits in place not consistently highlighting shortfalls identified during the inspection.
