Durlston House

Durlston House provides personal care to five people with learning disabilities and autism. At the time of inspection, the service faced significant staffing challenges. Staff numbers were insufficient to meet the hours commissioned by the local authority, which restricted the activities available to residents. Additionally, staff had not received adequate training to administer rescue medicine prescribed for one person in case of prolonged seizures, creating a potential safety risk. Risk management systems were not consistently effective, with some records containing conflicting information about the support people needed. While staff completed incident reports when necessary, these were not reviewed by management in a timely manner, limiting the service's ability to learn from incidents and implement improvements.
