Cow Lees Care Home

Cow Lees Care Home is a nursing home in one site across three buildings, providing nursing and residential care to younger and older people, including those with mental health needs or cognitive impairment. The CQC rated the home Requires Improvement overall. Inspectors found improvements since the last inspection, but the provider remained in breach of regulations on good governance, and a new breach was found relating to the premises, including fire door checks, exposed radiators and window risks.

Despite these shortfalls, inspectors found staff were caring, well trained and kept people safe from abuse, with good outcomes in effectiveness and responsiveness. People and relatives spoke positively about staff, food and management, and felt informed and safe. The CQC concluded further work was needed to embed quality checks fully into daily practice.
