Cheverells Care Home

Cheverells Care Home, in North Devon, provides accommodation with nursing and personal care for up to 38 people, with 36 people living there at the time of the assessment. Inspectors found the service had declined from its previous good rating to requires improvement, with breaches identified around safe care and treatment, staffing and governance. Concerns centred on infection prevention control, medicines management and insufficient oversight to monitor quality effectively.

Despite this, the CQC found a friendly, relaxed atmosphere, with staff treating people respectfully and understanding their individual needs. People and relatives described staff as kind and caring, and felt safe and well supported, with management seen as approachable. Thorough pre-admission assessments and good joint working with health professionals were also noted.
