Chestnut Lodge

Chestnut Lodge in Bradford provides nursing and personal care for up to 80 people, some living with dementia. At the time of the assessment 51 people were living there. The CQC rated the service inadequate overall and it remains in special measures, with the provider taking enforcement action.

Inspectors found quality had declined since the previous assessment, with continuing breaches around person-centred care, safe care and governance, plus new failings in safeguarding, staffing and notifying the CQC of incidents. Risks, including repositioning and medicines, were not managed safely, and leaders lacked effective oversight. Feedback from people and relatives was mixed, with some praising kind staff while others described unanswered call buzzers, poor cleanliness and neglect.
