Date of assessment 19 August 2025. Chestnut Court Care Home is a residential care home providing the regulated activities personal and nursing care and treatment of disease, disorder or injury to up to 62 people. The service provides support to older people and people living with dementia. At the time of our inspection there were 58 people using the service. The service was last assessed on 12 May 2022 and was rated good.
Care plans were detailed which helped staff deliver the right support. Risks to people, particularly those associated with older people’s care were well documented, highlighting the risks and the actions staff should take to mitigate them.
There were sufficient numbers of staff on duty to be able to meet people’s needs. Staff had up to date training meaning they had the skills and knowledge they needed. There was a calmness throughout the day of our visit and staff were not rushed which meant people could be supported at their own pace.
The service was clean and odour free. It was tastefully decorated, and furniture and furnishings were in good order. People’s rooms were personalised with their own possessions, giving them a feeling of ownership.
Staff were caring and attentive to people’s needs, responding immediately to requests. The provider had information that detailed response times to call bells. People using their call bells to request support were responded to promptly.
The home was well managed; there was a registered manager in post who was experienced in the management of care homes. Professionals we spoke to told us about the ease of working with the registered manager and the staff team.
The feedback we received from people using the service and their families was positive about all aspects of care that was provided.
Following this assessment the ratings have not changed, and this service remains good.
