Caxton Lodge is a residential care home providing accommodation and nursing care for up to 10 people with learning disabilities and autism across two floors, each with separate adapted facilities. During inspection, the home demonstrated strong infection prevention and control practices, including adequate PPE supplies, up-to-date policies aligned with government guidance, and regular staff training on hygiene and safety protocols. The service ensured non-exempt staff and visiting professionals were tested and vaccinated against COVID-19. Where people lacked capacity to make decisions, the home supported them appropriately with best interest assessments relating to testing and vaccination. Staff completed regular testing to identify cases promptly, and the acting manager oversaw extra cleaning and routine checks to maintain infection control standards. Social distancing practices were implemented safely across communal areas, and people unable to visit in person were supported to maintain contact through telephone calls.
