Caraston Hall

The following is CQC's published account of its assessment, published 25 March 2026. References to “we” mean CQC. It describes findings at that time.

Date of assessment: 3 February to 20 February 2026.

Caraston Hall is a small care home that provides accommodation, personal care and support to a maximum of 5 people of working age who are experiencing severe and enduring mental health conditions. At the time of our inspection, 5 people were living at the service. However, only 1 person received a regulated activity, for example, help with tasks related to personal hygiene and eating.

We carried out this assessment due to the age of the rating. We assessed 33 Quality Statements under 5 Key Questions of: Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive and Well Led. At our last inspection, the service was rated good. At this assessment, the service remains good.

We expect health and social care providers to guarantee people with a learning disability and autistic people respect, equality, dignity, choices and independence and good access to local communities that most people take for granted. 'Right support, right care, right culture' is the guidance CQC follows to make assessments and judgements about services supporting people with a learning disability and autistic people and providers must have regard to it. The provider was working in line with this guidance. However, we identified several areas requiring improvement, including risk management, staffing levels and the quality of documentation relating to people’s capacity assessments and best‑interest decision‑making processes. Following our assessment, the registered manager confirmed improvements had been made.
