Brockenhurst

Brockenhurst is a residential care home providing support for up to 38 older people living with dementia, with 25 people using the service at the time of assessment. The CQC found the home Requires Improvement overall. Staffing and safety had improved and the provider was no longer in breach of related regulations, but shortfalls remained in person-centred care and governance, with inconsistent staff practice around dignity, choice and mealtime support.

Inspectors found people and relatives spoke warmly of staff kindness, and safeguarding understanding was strong. However, activities were limited due to a long-vacant coordinator post, care plans were not always updated promptly, and quality assurance systems, though improving, were not yet fully embedded.
