Brent Cottage

Brent Cottage is a residential care home providing accommodation and personal care for up to 5 people in an adapted house with separate bedrooms and shared communal areas. At the time of inspection, 5 people were living at the service. Staff enabled people to access specialist health care support in the community and administered prescribed medicines safely, having received appropriate training. The environment and cleanliness had improved, and people were able to personalise their rooms.

However, people were not always able to spend their time freely without pressure from others, and were not consistently supported to have maximum choice and control of their lives. While staff supported people in the least restrictive way possible and in their best interests, with policies and systems reflecting this practice, improvements were needed in supporting longer-term aspirations. Care plan information promoted equality and diversity in people's support.
