Brandreth Lodge Nursing Home

This residential care home supports up to 24 older people, with 16 residents at the time of inspection. The home is spread across two floors and features spacious communal areas and gardens for residents to use. Staff members are sufficient in number and maintain a clean environment, and people are protected from abuse. The service promotes choice and control, supporting residents in the least restrictive way possible and in their best interests through appropriate policies and systems.

However, risks to health and safety were not always adequately assessed and mitigated, and improvements were needed in the safe management of medicines. Governance and risk management required strengthening, with overdue training and staff supervisions needing attention. Despite these concerns, staff reported enjoying their roles and receiving good support from management, and the home maintains a positive, homely atmosphere.
