Bowerfield House

Bowerfield House is a nursing home accommodating up to 26 people requiring nursing or personal care across two floors. At inspection, 23 people were using the service. The home was clean and tidy, though infection prevention and control practices were not consistently in place or followed. Medicines were not managed safely, with stock levels not always matching records, administration not consistently recorded, and opened bottles and creams not always dated. The manager began implementing some processes during the inspection. Staff were safely recruited with adequate staffing levels, though the home relied heavily on agency staff. People were appropriately safeguarded with necessary risk assessments in place.

The service had governance concerns including gaps in audits and paperwork, and was working towards improving compliance in infection prevention and fire training. There was no registered manager in post and limited recent lessons learned documents. Staff spoke positively about the new manager and reported enjoying their roles.
