Boldmere Court Care Home

Boldmere Court provides nursing, personal care and accommodation for up to 68 older people, including those with dementia, mental health support needs, physical disabilities and younger adults. At inspection, 63 people were using the service.

Inspectors identified several areas requiring improvement. Risk assessments lacked sufficient detail about techniques for supporting people displaying distressed behaviour, and some contained outdated information. People requiring time-critical controlled medicines did not always receive them at the prescribed times. Records relating to restraint use did not clearly demonstrate it was the least restrictive technique used for the shortest duration. Best interest documentation sometimes lacked detail to justify restrictions, and handover records did not consistently provide staff with current information about people's health needs. The provider's audits were not always effective at identifying quality issues, and some care plans lacked necessary detail. One person's bedroom was found to be in unsafe condition.
