Aspen Lodge Residential Care Home

Aspen Lodge provides accommodation, nursing and personal care for up to 25 older people, including some living with dementia, mental health conditions or physical disabilities. The CQC's rating of Requires Improvement follows an assessment prompted by concerns raised about the service. Inspectors found breaches relating to infection control, consent and governance, with inconsistent medicines management, risk handling and application of the Mental Capacity Act.

People told inspectors staff were kind and they felt safe, with enough staff available and good access to health professionals. However, care was not always person-centred, feedback was not consistently acted on, and opportunities for activities and community access were limited. The provider has been asked for an action plan to address these shortfalls.
