Penn House Residential Home

Pen House provides personal and nursing care to up to 26 older people, some living with dementia. At inspection, 16 people were using the service. Staff understood safeguarding procedures and could recognise and report concerns about potential abuse. The home maintained adequate staffing levels and had systems in place to learn from incidents and prevent recurrence. The environment was clean, and staff demonstrated knowledge of infection control measures.

Staff supported people to have maximum choice and control over their lives, using the least restrictive approach in their best interests. Care records were monitored for accuracy, and the service sought feedback from people to support continuous improvement. The registered manager was approachable and responsive to concerns. One area for improvement involved ensuring medicines administration records were completed accurately, though medicines had been administered as prescribed.
