April Park Care Home

April Park Care Home provides personal care to up to 40 older people across two floors with communal lounges, dining facilities, bathrooms and accessible outside space. At inspection, 33 people were using the service.

Staff had received training in the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and understood how to apply its principles. However, the home had not consistently assessed or recorded people's capacity to make specific decisions about their daily lives. Best interest decisions were not consistently documented, and the provider had not properly considered whether people's care arrangements constituted a deprivation of their liberty.
