Applecroft Care Home

Applecroft Care Home provides nursing and personal care for 75 older people, including those living with dementia. At inspection, 67 residents were living there. During the inspection, the service was managing a COVID-19 outbreak and had suspended normal visiting, though essential caregivers and relatives of people receiving end-of-life care were welcomed. Visitors arranged visits by phone and were required to complete COVID-19 tests before entry, provide proof of negative results, have their temperature taken, and complete health declarations.

The home maintained robust infection control measures throughout. Staff had received infection control training and completed regular COVID-19 testing. Personal protective equipment was well-stocked to the right standard and disposed of correctly, with clear guidance on its use displayed across the service in picture format. Individual risk assessments were in place for both people and staff to tailor care to their specific needs. The service implemented a clear cleaning schedule, and the building was maintained as clean and odour-free.
